Bembeleza Musalia fell onto the lava rocks after Mount Nyiragongo erupted, breaking her arm. Her husband, who has no medical training, helped cut off her cast using a small metal file. Musalia once worked as a tailor, but her sewing machine was destroyed in the May eruption. All she saved was a few bits of twisted metal that she hopes to sell for scrap.
